Joey’s Life

Who is Joey Nichols? I know that’s what you’re asking yourself right now and the very reason you’re reading this page. I’ll do my best to sum it up for you.

Joey is an aspiring young adult author who loves moonlit walks on the beach, candlelit dinners…. just kidding. Writing bios often feel a lot like putting out a personal ad.

Like many writers, I started off as a reader. I devoured books from one end of the spectrum to the other. Books like the Sweet Valley High series (likely way before your time), Dean Koontz, Stephen King (jogger accident in Pet Cemetery still one of the most memorable descriptive passages ever), snickered over the Harlequin romances my mom and sister loved, and enjoyed a great mystery on occasion. I started writing in middle school, though to my generation it was Junior High. It became more than a hobby years later. Thanks to movies like The Lost Boys and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, my love affair with the paranormal genre was born .

Now that all the specifics are out of the way, how would I sum up myself? I like to think that I’m young at heart. Often, I can be found daydreaming about hot guys who are just as likely to whisper sweet nothings along your neck as they are to turn all vampy or furry to defend you. (Though I hardly limit it to the fanged or furry)

Even though I am grown and have zombie twins of my own, I still dream much the same as I did when I was younger. In my mind, fairy tales still make me happy. Knights in shining armor, castles, and damsels in distress are real. As are shapeshifters, witches, elves, faeries, vampires, dragons, and any other being that my imagination might conjure. When it comes down to it, Joey Nichols is a dreamer who lives, eats, and breathes the paranormal. All facets of it. I look forward to sharing my journey with you.
