Yes! The holidays are done and the muse has returned from her vacation. And the vacation must have done her good because the ideas are a flowing. Hopefully I can make this new idea work. The main character is clear in my head, the hero is as well. Story line is thought out. Now to write. Yep I’m back and it feels good. To share a little, here is a song that I am listening to as I write.
I am seriously trying hard to catch it. This year’s been more of a challenge than years past. No matter how hard I try, the Christmas bug has failed to bite me. Do I not taste as sweet? Well even without the bug doing it’s part, I am really giving it a shot. I mean really, have you ever seen anything as fabulous as this home made Peppermint Bark? This was my first year making it. It tastes as good as it looks. (I know this because I can’t be in the kitchen cooking or baking without sampling the goods.
This was so easy. Wish I could say the same for my mini eggnog cakes. They didn’t want to release from the pan and my frosting gave me trouble. Story of my holiday season. Oh which reminds me….my first embarrassment of the season has officially occurred. I was in Starbuck’s with my sister and while waiting for the drinks, I was browsing their cups. One had this cute little saying on it and I picked it up and started towards where she was last standing, reading the cup and not watching where I was going. I reached a person I believed was my sister, stopped, kept reading (still not looking up) and suddenly my sister says.. “Joey, I’m over here.”
I glance up, then to my left to see I’d stopped right next to a guy waiting in line to order. He was very polite and while I was giggling uncontrollably from embarrassment, I couldn’t help but notice that he was kinda cute. Ah well, such is life. I crawled into a hole while my darling sister had her entertainment for the evening.
‘Tis the season!
Okay, so first major obstacle of the holiday season has passed. Zombie twins birthday went off without a hitch. It was a beautiful day and for the first time ever they were able to enjoy the bounce house that was delivered. Mom didn’t have to be the bad guy and blow it down due to wind or rain. Now to get through Christmas. The tree is up. Kids have a Holiday program at school today. Baking this weekend. Hmm…perhaps the craziness has not subsided after all.
As you can see, we have a lovely new look here at the blog. As much as I loved the old blog, this one just speaks to me more. I just get all warm and fuzzy when I look at it. Elaina at For the Muse Designs did a fabulous job on it and since she didn’t slap me, I guess all is just right in my world. Now what is going on with the writing? Well not much. Holidays kind of suck that right out of me. My muse goes on vacation to an undisclosed location and I’ve been unable to locate her. Okay that’s not entirely true. She did pop in the other day to say hi and let me know of a new idea she had. We’re playing with it and that’s all I’m going to say for now. I also might try my hand at a little something new. I will let you know after Christmas. Things are still being worked on here. Be patient. If you have me book marked though, you might want to update your link. It is now http://joeynichols.com
Well I’m off to the dreaded day job. You guys have a lovely day!
